Located southeast of Las Vegas, Nevada is the City of Henderson. It is a large and growing city and is positioned in Clark County. According to the United States Census Bureau, there were almost 300,000 people living in Henderson in 2016. It is the second largest city in Clark County.

The history of Henderson, Nevada dates back to mid-1900s. It is said that the city was “born in America’s defense.” During World War II, the Basic Magnesium Plant was constructed in present-day Henderson. The spurred the development of a community. The plant supplied magnesium for munitions and airplane parts to the U. S. War Department. While the plant was in operation, about 14,000 individuals worked in the plant. However, magnesium production was no longer necessary by 1947 and most of the employees moved away. The Nevada Legislature purchased the plant in an effort to save the community surrounding the plant and in 1953 Henderson was incorporated as a city.
